From an early age, Mike Walters discovered that life was more exciting when seasoned with a bit of imagination. Whether it was the size of the steelhead that got away in the Rogue River or the mysterious new scratch on his father’s truck, Mike was always ready with a story to captivate, entertain, and sometimes, mislead his audience. When not in the spotlight, he found solace in the wild. While his brother and father panned for gold in the heart of the Kalmiopsis wilderness, Mike would wander off with his fishing pole and his trusty Labrador, Colonel, to fish, float down rivers, or dive into deep pools—sometimes dodging the occasional protective mama bear.
These adventures tuned him into the hidden rhythms of nature. His curiosity and love for quiet observation led him to explore 49 of the 50 United States during and after his time as a photographer for the U.S. Air Force. This rich tapestry of experiences, combined with his deep connection to the Pacific Northwest's Southern Oregon, fuels the inspiration behind his novels and characters. Today, when he isn’t cycling or photographing the stunning landscapes of Oregon, he’s busy crafting his next story.
He has published four novels, including The Rogue River Incident, Books I & II, Hidden Beneath the Pines, and his latest release, The Good Sheriff. Mike is currently working on a new Southern Oregon novel set during the Almeda fire, scheduled for release in 2025. Explore the world of Mike Walters and discover gripping mysteries, supernatural thrills, and action-packed tales, all rooted in the captivating landscapes of Southern Oregon.
