Dive Into the Stories

Suspenseful tales set against the unforgettable Oregon landscape.

Small-Town Secrets Run Deep

The Good Sheriff began to take shape one spring afternoon on a visit to the covered bridge in Wimer, Oregon. After snapping a few photos, I set out on a scenic drive to Eagle Point, winding along a narrow mountain road. I came across a woman from Southern California, stranded in her car after an unexpected snowstorm. I spent the next hour helping free her vehicle, and the encounter got me thinking about the vulnerability of people in the rugged, remote Pacific Northwest areas. Small towns have their secrets, and in wild places like these, strange events can unfold without a soul knowing. With this backdrop in mind, Sheriff Maxwell Wilcox emerged—a man who, alongside some unforgettable characters, confronts unusual threats and finds himself in a high-stakes, twisting thriller.

The Good Sheriff: Justice in the Wild

Sheriff Maxwell Wilcox thought he’d left tragedy behind, but a mangled body appearing out of nowhere in the peaceful Rogue Valley proves him wrong. Drawn into a chilling mystery, Wilcox must face threats that reach beyond anything he’s ever encountered. As dark forces close in, he realizes that to protect his new community, he’ll have to confront his own tragic past. Can one sheriff stand against the unknown?

"I enjoyed the characters immediately and felt like I knew them. The story has a good balance of mystery, romance, and thrills that keep you reading until the very end!" - Lindsey

When Beauty Hides Darkness

Hidden Beneath the Pines took shape from a mix of my love for the Southern Oregon wilderness, my intrigue with the dark stories on Dateline, and the haunting experiences of a childhood friend. Growing up, I had no idea my green-eyed friend endured unimaginable pain at home—her suffering unknown to everyone, even the adults who should have seen it. Years later, she shared her horrific story with me, revealing a world of hidden family terror that created deep, lasting scars. Her tale of pain and a desire for justice opened my eyes to damage buried within the walls of a family's home. Set against the beautiful but isolating forests of Southern Oregon, Hidden Beneath the Pines is a journey into secrets, resilience, and suspense that will keep readers guessing until the final pages.

Betrayal, Survival, and Family Mysteries

Detective Mara Graley, nearing retirement, leads a relentless investigation uncovering truths no one expected to see. As layers of deception are peeled back, the idyllic Southern Oregon landscape becomes a backdrop for a haunting tale of survival and revenge. Will Matt escape the shadows lurking beneath the pines?

"This story was a very good read...and I enjoyed reading it, I would recommend it to others and I know that they would like it, too."

The Rogue River’s Secrets Unveiled

The Rogue River Incident duology is rooted in my lifelong connection to Oregon’s Rogue River and a fascination with the unknown. Growing up near this rugged waterway, I spent countless hours hiking, tubing, cliff diving, and fishing—experiences that made it the perfect setting for my first novel. With Mitch Wilde, a character inspired by Fox Mulder from The X-Files, I set out to explore strange phenomena against the wild backdrop of the Pacific Northwest. One day, I sat down with this idea, and several months and 85,000 words later, book one was finished. I love a good cliffhanger, and I always keep in mind Garth Stein’s advice: “Write something you’d want to read.” That’s how The Rogue River Incident came to life.

What Would You Do if Strange Things Started Happening in Your Neighborhood?

Strange phenomena, buried truths, and the Wild & Scenic Rogue River create the perfect backdrop for this gripping mystery. When outdoor photographer Mitch Wilde captures unsettling footage of a creature emerging from a lake, he’s pulled into a web of eerie events and unexplained violence. As his neighbor uncovers evidence of looming danger, Mitch must unravel decades-old secrets to protect his town from an unseen force. This fast-paced tale of suspense and small-town survival will keep you hooked until the final page. Book 1 of a thrilling two-book set.

If You Were Captured and Caged, Would You Try to Escape?

Sinister forces, relentless suspense, and unearthly mysteries collide in this gripping sequel. As Mitch Wilde’s wife, Mabey, races to escape an unseen threat, Mitch teams up with his grumpy neighbor Jasper and loyal friend Jack to uncover the truth. With danger closing in, the trio must face shocking revelations that test their courage and loyalty. Twists, action, and supernatural intrigue make this pulse-pounding tale difficult to put down.

The Rogue River Incident: Book 1 is a comical sci-fi alien book. Mitch is an usual character who grows curious when strange events start happening. His friend is shot with a disappearing arrow and Native Americans on horses make appearances. He manages to get stuff on camera and video as the story progresses and finds there’s more to it then he originally thought. The author has a good voice for humor and makes this story a light hearted adventure. I will give away a sorta spoiler here and say it ends on a cliffhanger. The good news is book two is available. I was relieved when I saw that. I’m curious to find out what happens and learn more about the curious alien happenings. Fun story for an afternoon of laughs.

I loved this book. This being book 2, I was pleased to see it pick up just where book 1 left off. This story continues and unfolds quickly, leaving the reader glued to the book. I couldn't put it down so I ended up reading the whole book in a day. The characters grow and become even more vibrant and entertaining. The crazy story has more to it than I thought and more than I could have predicted. This book was scary, exciting, interesting, and descriptive. I appreciate that by the end of the book, I felt there was closure for the story.
